Frequently asked questions
Answers to the most common questions about AlloPro: trust and verification, the client journey, workers and advisors (Pros). Can't find your answer? Write to us via the Contact page.
Trust & verification
How do you verify workers?
Every worker must provide identity documents and, where the trade requires it, their professional licence (e.g. RBQ). Our team reviews these documents manually before activating the profile: no unverified worker can see your requests or send you a quote. Any substantial profile change puts the account back under review.
How does payment in trust work?
When you accept an offer, the agreed amount is deposited in trust with our payment partner — never in AlloPro's or the worker's pocket. The worker starts the job knowing the funds are reserved; you pay nothing to the worker until you approve the completed work. After your approval, the funds are released to them. If there is a problem, a mediation process applies before any release.
How do ratings work?
Only clients who actually paid for a job through the platform can rate a worker, on 7 criteria from 1 to 5 stars (courtesy, punctuality, communication, value, keeping commitments, quality of work, cleanliness). Advisors (Pros) are rated differently: 7 criteria as Good / Average / Poor, with no global score, and only after real exchanges.
Why are contact details hidden at first?
Contact details and the exact work-site address stay hidden until payment in trust, then the system shares them automatically between you and the worker. That protects both sides: the client knows the worker is verified and committed, and the worker knows the client is serious and the funds exist.
What if I'm not satisfied with the work?
Don't approve the proof of completion: use “Report a problem” in your request's tracking. The funds stay in trust while our team mediates between you and the worker.
Clients
How much does it cost for a client?
Nothing. AlloPro is completely free for clients: posting requests, quotes, negotiation, tracking. Our revenue comes from a fee paid by the worker on won contracts.
How do I post a request?
Click “Post a request” and follow the 5 steps: choose the service, describe the work with photos (up to 3 files), location (city and postal code), availability (urgent, fixed date or flexible), and summary. Only verified workers in your area and trade will see your request.
Can I ask for several services in one request?
No — one request covers a single service. This is deliberate: one clear contract per service protects the payment in trust and keeps disputes simple. Just post one request per service; it's free.
How does negotiation work?
You receive quotes, then you can accept, reject, or make a counteroffer (price and date). Negotiation alternates strictly: one counteroffer at a time — the other party must respond before you can send another. Rejecting closes the discussion.
Which cities are served?
The Longueuil agglomeration: Longueuil, Saint-Hubert, Boucherville, Saint-Lambert, Brossard and Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville. If your area isn't covered yet, the assistant will let you suggest adding it — those suggestions guide our expansion.
Workers
How do I become a worker on AlloPro?
Download the AlloPro mobile app, create your profile (trades, service area, identity and licence documents where applicable) and submit it for verification. Once activated, you see requests in your area and can quote. The “Worker space” on the web offers a light version to track requests, offers, contracts and payments.
How much does AlloPro cost for a worker?
Signing up and quoting are free. AlloPro takes a 12% fee only on won contracts (minimum $12), deducted at payout. No won contract = nothing to pay. Contracts are capped at $10,000.
How are the requests I see selected?
You first see requests in your service area (cities and postal codes from your profile) matching your trades, then other requests outside your area. “Not interested” permanently removes a request from your list.
When do I get paid?
The client deposits the agreed amount in trust before the work starts — so you know the funds exist. When done, you submit proof of completion (photos and a comment); as soon as the client approves, the funds are paid out to you, minus the fee.
Can I close the deal directly with the client, off-platform?
No. Circumventing the platform after being connected is prohibited and may lead to account suspension. This rule protects the trust arrangement, the guarantees of the journey, and fairness towards workers who play by the rules.
Advisors (Pros)
What is an advisor on AlloPro?
Advisors are real-estate journey professionals: real estate brokers, mortgage brokers, notaries, insurance advisors… Unlike workers, access to them is direct: you can browse the directory, view their profile and chat with them immediately, with no trust payment.
How much is the advisor subscription?
$49.99/month or $499/year (about 2 months free) — founder rate guaranteed for 12 months. It includes search visibility, direct client access, unlimited messaging, event publishing and the verified badge.
Why isn't my advisor profile visible?
An advisor profile becomes visible when three conditions are met: verified identity, completed profile and active subscription. Until then, you can access your menus, but client names and contact details stay hidden.
How are advisors rated?
On 7 criteria as Good / Average / Poor (courtesy, responsiveness, clarity, relevance of advice, fee transparency, keeping commitments, file follow-up) — never stars or a global score. Rating only unlocks after real exchanges with the advisor.
