Negotiating price and date well on AlloPro

4 min read

The rule of the game: one counteroffer at a time

On AlloPro, negotiation proceeds in strictly alternating turns: when you make a counteroffer (price and date), it's the worker's turn to respond — accept, reject or propose something else — before you can make a new one. This rhythm avoids messy bidding and keeps the discussion clear and traceable.

Rejecting an offer closes the discussion; deleting the discussion (✕) counts as a final rejection. And no proposed date can be in the past — the system prevents it.

Three tips for negotiating well

1. Negotiate the date as much as the price: accepting the worker's availability (rather than imposing yours) is often the best lever for an adjusted price.

2. Justify your counteroffer in the message: “the neighbour paid X for the same hedge” or “I can wait until next week” works better than a bare number.

3. Stay realistic: a verified worker knows their costs. A counteroffer that's too low will simply be rejected, and you'll have lost a turn.

Why messaging opens after acceptance

Direct chat unlocks once the offer is accepted and the deposit is placed in trust. Before that, exchanges go through negotiation messages, and contact details stay hidden: that's what protects both parties from platform circumvention and bad surprises.
